About the National Society for Education

We work with the Church of England and the Church in Wales to shape policy, develop leaders and grow faith in the education sector. We are passionate about our vision and mandate, working towards the human flourishing of all.

CofE Vision for Education

Our vision is for ‘life in all its fullness’, a vision of human flourishing for all, one that embraces excellence and academic rigour, but sets them in a wider framework.

Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good.

Our Hope for a Flourishing School System

Our Hope for a Flourishing Schools System is a rearticulation of the 2016 Church of England Vision for Education, ‘Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good’. It is focused on flourishing children, adults and schools.

History

The National Society is a Royal-charter charity founded in 1811 with the mission to provide education 'for the poor and disadvantaged' in England and Wales. Our core priorities are developing leaders, shaping policy and growing faith within the educational sector.

Church of England

The National Society is one of the 7 National Church Institutions of the Church of England and is chaired by the Church of England's lead bishop for education, emphasising its integral role in the Church's mission.

Church in Wales

The Royal Charter of the National Society is given for work in both England and Wales. Our work in Wales is to support the Church in Wales with their work in Education and Growing Faith.
